Scary Situation

I'm not sure if you all know or not, but I was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, January 8th at 12:30a and was released on Wednesday, January 11th at 11:30a. Needless to say, it was one of the scariest things that I have experienced thus far.

I had been having pretty bad back pain on my right side. I had also been going to the chiropractor, and they were telling me that it was my ribs popping out. I mentioned it to my doctor on Thursday, January 5th, at my 20 week check up, she said that it was normal and it was just my body shifting. I thought it was kind of strange for me to only be 20 weeks, but I just took what she said and accepted it. On Thursday night it got pretty bad and I felt like I was running a fever with it, I couldn't eat much which was different for me. I ended up going shopping for some new pants with Heather, while I was trying stuff on I noticed that my body was really hot, I mentioned to Heather that I thought I may be running a fever. I just shrugged it off because I was feeling fine. I, of course, hadn't been sleeping well because of my back so, once again, I woke up really sleepy and wasn't feelin well. I ended up going to work and trying to push through it but I left at 10 because I couldn't make it any longer. I went home and just laid on the couch all day. I ended up waking up sweating so I knew that I had, had a fever and it was breaking. I was finally feeling a little better, but my back was still hurting. I ended up going to dinner with my mom, dad and Tessa because Tony wasn't going to be home until late. I still wasn't able to eat much which, again, was worrying me. When we came back to my parents, I took my temp a few times and it never was about 101. I probably should have called my doctor at this point but I just let it wear off. Tony didn't end up getting home until about 2am, so he just picked me up and we went home. Once again, I didn't sleep well.. I woke up on Saturday, January 7th, and had planned to go get my nails done with my mom. We ended up going and I was still feeling like crap, but I was pushing myself through the day. We got back to the house about 1 and I slept until about 4. Tony and I went to go look at apartments, which was exciting but hard to enjoy because I wasn't feeling well. Tony went over to Aarons to watch football because I was obviously being boring and I just slept after the kids went to bed. I woke up about 10:30, shivering and couldn't stop. I took some Tylenol tried to just go back to sleep, but I couldn't. At about 10:50 I gave in and took my temp, it was 104. It had me freaked out, I didn't know what to do and I couldn't get ahold of Tony. I tried going back to sleep to see if the Tylenol would kick in. At about 11:30, Tony called me back and I told him what was going on. He came over to my parents house and called the doctor, they told him that we needed to go straight to the hospital to Labor and Delivery. I started freaking out even more, and didn't want to go, but I knew it was for the best.
By the time we got to the hospital and checked in it was 12:30a. We had to go through the ER, so we sat there forever before they actually got us up to L&D. Once we got up to L&D, the nurse hooked me up to all the machines and they watched over me and the baby for a little bit. A few med students and residents came in and asked a few questions. I gave them a urine sample in the ER, when I got up the L&D and they tested it I was told 'your pee could walk on it's own'. I was informed that my pee had some bacteria, blood, protein in it. My 'white' count was really high, they took my blood and they also said the same about that. My temp had gone down and they were going to send me home that night. They called my doctor and she told them to keep me and start me on antibiotics. My temp was going up and down all throughout the day and night. They diagnosed me with a kidney and bladder infection. Which the kidney infection would explain why my back had been hurting. I lost track of my days while I was in there, but I believe it was on Sunday night the resident that was on the floor wanted to take more blood and test it. They, also, sent my blood that they took Sunday morning off and the dr that was on call (dr. zitter) said that she wanted them to start me on a different antibiotic. With that being said they had me on 2 antibiotics, and an IV, it wasn't the time of my life. Mom, dad, mamaw and papaw all came up on Sunday to see me and spend time with me. It was kind of scary when they were there because my heartrate got up super high (130s) and it seemed like Brodys was really low (130s) which made me really scared because his normal heartrate is higher than that (150-160s). They had me hooked up on a machine that was monitoring us. They said that he was fine and I just needed to rest, it's hard to get the two different heartrates when mine is so high. Heather came up on Monday to spend some time with me and so that Tony could go do something besides sit at the hospital with me. She got me up and moving around which was nice, I was happy to get out of that bed! My uncle Rusty came up on Monday also, it was nice to see people from outside of the hospital. I, also, felt good enough to take a shower in the hospital on Monday evening. I finally felt a little more like myself. My temp finally stayed down throughout Tuesday and Tuesday night. Mom took off Tuesday-Thursday so she came up and spent the day with me on Tuesday because Tony was working. I got to walk around a little more, and I actually slept a lot of the time she was there. It was nice to just have someone there with me though.
Like I said earlier I got released on Wednesday at about 11:30. Tony and I came to my parents and hung out for a little bit then went home. I came over again on Thursday so that I wasn't home alone and my mom took off that day. Friday, Tony and I just hung out for a little bit then I ended up going to dinner with my mom and dad. I slept almost all day on Saturday because I was/am trying to catch up on sleep from being in the hospital. We babysat until late on Saturday and Sunday went to dinner with Tonys dad and Ali. Monday, I hung out at the apartment then went to gymnastics with my mom to watch Brooklynn.
Needless to say, I'm finally feeling better and am back to normal.
